Effective 2024-07-01, Seequent will introduce updated Annual Maintenance policies for GeoStudio products.

From this date, GeoStudio perpetual licenses that are not current on maintenance will become machine-locked to the computer or server where the software is installed.

This means they cannot be moved to another device or restored to the current device in the event of, but not limited to, software failure, virtual machine re-hosting, formatted hard drive and so forth.

Error (601) - Activation was Refused by the Activation Server

In this article we explain the following error that can occur when activating a license in GeoStudio:

(license number): Failed: Activation was refused by the activation server. (Error 601) The server gave this reason: 7288; The activation of the fulfillment is denied by the activation policy for activation id (license number) because Fulfill count exceeded the available seat count.

This error can happen for both standalone and network licenses.

Cause

  • This error message is telling you that your serial number has already been activated on a different computer.

Steps to Resolve

  • The license should be returned on the computer where it is currently activated.
  • licenses that are not under maintenance become machine-locked to the last computer they were hosted on. This means they cannot be transferred to another device or restored to the current device for any reason, such as hardware or software failure, reformatting the hard drive, virtual machine changes, etc.
